ST CONSTANTINE MALE VOICE CHOIR |
|
ST CONSTANTINE MALE VOICE CHOIR meets to practise on Monday evenings (19:30 - 21:00) in the Constantine Social Club. If you are interested to find out more about us please call Paul Yockney, Choir Secretary. New Members will be made most welcome. The choir has continued to grow since its formation and now has 29 members. It enjoys an expanding repertoire of music and attends engagements throughout the county. The members all know each other very well and the friendliness and warmth between them quickly communicates itself to audiences. The choir provides a varied and entertaining programme, not only of male voice singing but also of humour and fun, with solo, instrumental and vocal items. HISTORY OF THE CHOIR The village of Constantine, situated midway between Falmouth and Helston and close to the Helford River, has a long history of male voice singing in that it has provided singers for a number of premier choirs in the area. In more recent years a local choir has been formed from what had been known as the 'Football Club Choir' which was a small group of men who gathered together to sing mainly in the village Pub and the Social club for their own and the customers' pleasure. From these 'earthly' beginnnings have sprung a lively group of men, most of whom come from the village itself or its immediate surroundings. We currently have three father and sons singing in the choir - quite an achievement for such a small choir. St Constantine Male Voice Choir continues to flourish and take an active part in the musical heritage of Cornwall.
