Sunday 5th August sees Mousehole Male Voice Choir hold their 86th Summer Festival Concert at St Mary's Church in Penzance, which will see the choir introduce the new music for this year.. The concert begins at 7:30pm and the special guest this year is Faryl Smith. She was a finalist on ITV's Britain's Got Talent in 2008 when Simon Cowell said that she was 'literally one in a million', The following year saw Faryl's debut album breaking records as the fastest selling ever by a classical artist, going gold within the first week of release. There are so many occasions when Faryl has sung to huge crowds, and in prestigious venues, too many to fit here, but just a few examples are: the Festival of Remembrance, Royal Variety Show, Epsom Derby, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, as well as at Twickenham for the 2017 clash between the New Zealand All Blacks and Barbarians. In 2014 Faryl toured with G4, and in 2015 with the International Harp Ensemble. This year she has been to Wembley to sing the National Anthem at the Carabao Cup Final and each of the three play-off finals, and performed at the Dubai Opera. At the 2010 FA Cup final she sang one of the nation's favourite hymns 'Abide With Me'. Stephen Lawry has written an arrangement of this popular hymn so that the choir can accompany Faryl in this piece which will be the concert's finale. The choir are thrilled to have Faryl with them for their Summer Festival for the third time, following previous visits in 2012 and 2016. She will be accompanied by the choir's own Annette Turton.
Tickets for this concert are now on sale at the usual outlets price £8.00 and can be obtained, in advance at Morrab Studio in Penzance; The King's Arms, Paul and Mousehole News or on the evening of the concert at St Mary's Church for £10.00
